I am a survivor of a suicide loss. My name is Gabriela. My son, my light, my moon and all the stars was Honza. We shared a love for my little home town in the Czech Republic, we shared the Czech language and a love for the food. We both looked forward to our two visits there every year.
We shared so many traits and went through so much adversity an unbreakable bond was formed. A bond that helped us survive so much together: relationship abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse. We escaped all that together.
As strong as our bond was there were still things I could not protect him from. Some of which were just parts of growing and learning life. Some were the not so positive traits we shared together such as bouts of depression and ‘cutting’. I was a ‘cutter’ as a teenager but had survived it and moved forward. I had every expectation that Honza would do the same.
Tim became Honza’s surrogate father in 2013. The timing was just right for Honza as he was so in need of positive behavior and structure in his life. Tim’s family took to Honza immediately and accepted him as one of their own. A perfect match for Honza.
Tim was established in Utah and that’s where Honza and I moved. It reminded me a little of my hometown where we lived among the smaller mountains. Honza often told me how he thrived here and he really did blossom the last four years.
Tim and I are both outgoing and love to spend time in the mountains. We shared that with Honza where he loved to go camping and was really becoming a great little skier.
Tim’s family is spread out from Japan to several of the western states. Honza has spent a lot of time with them in all the locales.
Honza was a wonderful person who touched a lot of people. More than he knew. Honza’s Foundation was created so you can understand the pain and destruction that is left behind and to show you how much value a person has. How you may touch someone positively without ever knowing you did. You have value. We have a few simple things for you to think about on our site as well as some powerful videos. We are building our ‘Life is More Square’ in as many sites as possible to give you a place to look for help or be the helper. We want everyone to know that no matter how bleak and dark your day may become, ‘The Sun Will Rise Tomorrow’.
You’re okay and your value is far greater than you realize. Trust me.
